Metalska Jezgra (The Metal Center) Čakovec is an institution for research and development in the field of technologies and processes in the metal and related industries. Metalska Jezgra deals with networking activities of scientists, researchers, scientific research institutions, educational institutions and economic sectors, which exchange experiences, knowledge and skills as part of the infrastructure. Metalska Jezgra also operates in the field of informal adult education and lifelong learning activities by organizing professional courses and educations with an emphasis on additive technologies, which are one of the pillars of the 4th Industrial Revolution and 21st century technology. Metalska Jezgra operation concept unites the cooperation of the scientific and research, business and public sectors, i.e. it creates a triple helix effect, which contributes to solving the development problems of Međimurje County and the wider region and strengthening regional competitiveness. Most of the activities are carried out through the Research and Development Department and the Internet of Things Department. Metalska Jezgra team consists of scientists and researchers: PhDs, masters, engineers and associates. Scientists and researchers come from the fields of technical and natural sciences. Metalska Jezgra is equipped with state-of-the-art 3D printers, a 3D optical scanner, software for reverse engineering and 3D modeling. A special department consists of the Internet of Things Department with a laboratory equipped with modern development equipment for designing IoT systems and a line for surface laying of electronic components. With its research expertise, Metalska Jezgra participates in many European and national projects.
