The World Foundry Organization Celebrates Its Centenary Year
March 17 2026The World Foundry Organization (WFO) proudly announces the celebration of its Centenary Year, marking 100 years of advancing the global foundry industry and supporting innovation, collaboration, and sustainability across the metal casting sector.
Founded in 1926, the World Foundry Organization has played a pivotal role in uniting foundry associations, research institutions, and industry leaders from around the world. Over the past century, WFO has fostered international cooperation, promoted technical excellence, and contributed significantly to the development of casting technologies that underpin modern infrastructure, transportation, energy, and manufacturing.
The Centenary celebrations will highlight a century of achievement while setting the stage for the future of the foundry industry. The World Foundry Congress in October in Istanbul will be the main event for this year’s celebrations and past and present WFO stakeholders will be part of it.
As the industry navigates rapid technological transformation and increasing environmental responsibility, the World Foundry Organization reaffirms its commitment to knowledge exchange, research collaboration, education, and global best practices. As said by the WFO General Secretary, José Javier González, “the Centenary serves not only as a moment of reflection but also as a renewed pledge to drive innovation and strengthen international partnerships for the next 100 years.”
